Magdi is a postdoctoral researcher in the Orphan Lab in Geobiology at Caltech, investigating methane-oxidizing microbial communities in deep-sea carbonate rocks. She joined OcTech as an alto in the fall of 2022. She is from Austria and has a Master's degree in Ecology from the University of Vienna, Austria, and a PhD from EAWAG/ETH Zurich, Switzerland. She grew up in a musical family and played viola in orchestras and string quartets. Later she focused more on singing and since 2006 was a member of various choirs such as coro siamo in Vienna, molto cantabile in Lucerne and Glee Club at Caltech.
